keep calm and sew stuff: workshop I

Remember this post? Well, I did it and went to my first ever sewing and craft-making workshop last Saturday. I must say that it was a bit nerve-wrecking in the beginning (I was a tad late!) and I couldn't help but felt slightly inadequate when I first started out but eventually everything went well. The class was great- we made cushion covers, tote bags and stamping fabrics. I really enjoyed that stamping bit the most! It was also fun to meet people with similar interest, and be able to talk about arts and craft-making.
Here is a peek at the finished stamped tote bag. I must say that it's not the prettiest (not really a fan of green tote bags *winks*) and my sewing skills are in dire need of massive-scale improvements! I carved my own stamp though, a double triangles. I used the same stamp and color for my cushion cover but with a different stamping design. Will share picture of that later. Can't wait for the second workshop this coming Saturday- it's going to be tie-dye! I hope I'll be able to do a better job at sewing this time *heee..
My husband joined me afterwards and we had early dinner at Wondermilk. Had 2 servings of s'mores- they are so good!

the sweet sunday

I kinda feel guilty filling up this blog with food posts but I hope you won't mind. Here's a peek at our Sunday brunch at Alexis. This time we went to the outlet in Ampang. As usual, everything was delicious. I can definitely do this every weekend, I tell you.
We had our favorite wild mushroom risotto and we also tried a couple of dishes from its breakfast menu- baked eggs with creamy spinach and potatoes, and eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce and turkey bacon on toasted brioche- yumm!
I know you must have seen this before but I just can never get enough of the berry pavlova, ever. It's just so, so good and clearly, I'm a huge fan!
We went for furniture hunting during the weekend and found this. Isn't it gorgeous? I'm now torn between this beauty and a couple other sofas that we've seen. Gonna have to make up my mind soon *winks*

keep calm and sew stuff

If you're like me, you'll be jumping up and down in excitement about this
I feel very strongly about supporting small local businesses and growing craft talents. So I wasted no time and booked a spot in both workshops. Will I see you there? Would be a great opportunity to "hi" to each other *winks & grins*

Malacca in polaroids

saturday in Malacca

We went on a short road trip on Saturday to beautiful and old-world Malacca.
The day was scorching hot. We had bowls of cendol by the roadside across from the Stadhyus Building. We stopped by a street cart along the Jonker Walk half an hour later to have cold herbal air mata kucing. We saw a giant leftover dragon fixture hanged and sprawled above a small roundabout. I was excited to find Fanta drinks and Coca Cola sold in glass bottles just like the old days. We had flavored ice-creams shaped like eggs and enjoyed them to the very last bit of icy sweetness. We were amazed by the beautifully preserved old buildings and architecture. We saw some amazing collections of antiques from centuries ago and beautiful arts by the locals.
We strolled along the colorful and quaint Jonker Walk for hours until we could barely feel our feet. It was such a beautiful, hot day.
